We live north of Seattle. Funny that I had similar thoughts when I thought I heard a rodent in the attic. Let him go and be warm. Thanks for the devotional.
We are from Middle Tennessee and don't get weather like this that often. It's usually wet or icy. But this gentle snow piling up quiets everything. It is pleasant. Very thankful to have a home to return to and coats to choose from. Thankful for seasons. Starting a new year in the middle of a season is weird, as it feels artificial, but the elements bring us right back to the body and what is authentic.
My dogs love the winter cold spells. They gather around the wood stove or cuddle with me on the couch since this is the season of few farm chores. I feel a little lost each year in January without pressing outdoor work but it’s such a blessing.
"While God’s grace whispers in our mundane, our routine, it shouts in our extremes. And we need the coldest days to give us memory of the warmth."
Sally, you wrap words around the world in the most beautiful way...
Pacing between stoves here, donning the crampons while venturing outside. Warmth is in the coals and kindred spirits.
