Thank you for sharing these, I hadn't found an advent book for this year but you've inspired me to look again. I love Eleanor Farjeon's 'Carol for Advent' - "People, look east and sing today: Love, the guest, is on the way." I try to light an advent candle each night, a luminous moment as evening falls.

Sally, thanks for this reminder, "My friend, in case you forget: God knows your heart."

Also, I was humming along to Personent Hodie; I was in a Women's Choir in college and we sang that. Thank you.

What would I add? Porter's Gate has a haunting CD of Advent music. So much goodness out there.

And thanks for mentioning my booklist round up, hope some parents find it helpful!

Pilgrim God is a great Advent book, I am loving reading each poem and reflection first thing in the morning to anchor me into the season. I love the way that the liturgical season and the northern hemisphere natural season are entwined in these passages.

I must confess I read the First Sunday page after sundown on Saturday, I could not wait.

I am writing a four-part Advent series using "Of the Father's Love Begotten" as a connecting thread.

The first is long because I laid the foundation, but the next three (one on each Sunday of Advent) will be somewhere around 500 words (not counting the poetry or links to various arrangements of the Plainchant. I would be honored if you and your readers participated.

Thank you for this! I’ve been wanting to celebrate Advent (and tbh follow the liturgical calendar more closely) for a couple of years now, but growing up in Southern Baptist churches with a loud disdain for anything that even slightly looked like “high church nonsense”, I’ve been at a loss where to start.

Also grew up Baptist (and nearly 20 years SBC). It's a shame they avoid the liturgical calendar. It is so rich!
