Dear Wildroot Parables Readership,
Today, if you’ll indulge me, I wanted to take the opportunity to interrupt our usual parables and, instead, just share a brief and simple message of thanks.
On February 25th, this weekend, I’ll be celebrating my second anniversary on this platform and stepping into a third year. What a threshold!
I can’t believe how much has happened in the two years since I started (you can read my very first article here), how much we’ve grown even since last year’s milestone, and all the ways this place has changed the way I write, think, and visualize my future as a writer.
It is an incredible honor to share words and work and wonder with all of you, in this space. One I never take for granted.
For those who aren’t also following my fiction work over on Talebones: I made the announcement yesterday that I was flirting with the early stages of creative burnout after a busy winter, and I needed to take a step back from a few things over there. This will center around taking a hiatus in March, a month that (historically) is a busy one for me as I get the garden tidied and ready for growing, and also try to refill my docket of freelance work. As much as I hate to admit it, sometimes things—even beloved things—have to give, and priorities have to shift. That’s the seasonality of life. It’s beautiful, and it also demands to be heard and respected.
I believe that I’ll still be able to maintain my regular schedule here on The Wildroot Parables during that hiatus, but I’m also sharing this message just in case a bit of “give” is required here occasionally, also.
It’s a remarkable thing to have found and cultivated a community like this, and I take very little credit for how sweet it is. The immense privilege to share with you—gracious you, generous you—as we head into a third year is difficult to express. Thank you, thank you, for blessing me with the gift of your presence.
So, to all: readers, commenters, restackers, evangelists, lurkers, likers, and the rest…blessings on you, and Happy Anniversary, and here’s to many more!
Your grateful storyteller,
S.E. Reid

Happy to be a lurker/liker/evangelist/restacker. And kudos to you for building boundaries around your work, Sally. May God bring fruit and productivity all around.
Happy anniversary!! Two years (and consistently writing here!) is amazing!
