I find the greatest Christian thinkers were able to use stories, both fiction and non-fiction, to communicate essential lessons in faithful living. Those who stuck to academics definitely have much to teach, but primarily to other academics. In time you may find more intersection between Talebones and The Wildroot Parables. It's possible you needed that first shift in focus so that you could bring back what you learned about how people respond to stories. I pray you find the right balance, and I look forward to reading more here!

Life isn't static, why would your writing be? I'm here for the journey, however your path changes. Happy New Year!

So happy I found your Substack. As a spiritual director I love leaning into Celtic spirituality. As an ultramarathoner my element is spending hours with the Big Book of nature while ruminating about the Little Book of scripture. Excited to read your offerings.

I enjoy a good journey, S.E. Mystic meanderings, undiscovered paths, musings-it's hard to plot those still hidden places. You walk and enjoy, for you!

Your writing has, for many years, meant so much to me. As someone who has been here since the beginning, I am so excited for where you'll take The Wildroot Parables this year! :-)

Mondays are my favorite and a real blessing. I can’t keep up with all my fiction writing friends, though I hope they all keep doing what they love. Appreciate you much. Looking forward to a great 2024!

Seeing yourself as a pilgrim is a good and humble start. No need to see yourself as a leader. You’re just a fellow Christian who is sharing her thoughts about whatever. Can I recommend that you consider sharing your struggles with living out the Christian life as you believe your loving heavenly father desires.

I'm excited to be here. Given how much I get out of your Notes, I have a lot of confidence that I will get a lot out of your parables and essays. And I'd be very curious to learn more about how your faith informs your life.
