“Jumping spiders have genuinely soulful eyes.”

I am not spider-averse, but I decidedly am jumping-things averse (lizards, birds people keep as pets, spiders, grasshoppers...you get the idea). I do not mind God’s creatures great and small, but I do not want anything jumping on me without my permission! And I cannot fathom gazing into the soulful eyes of a JUMPING spider, S.E.! 🤣

I do, however, love that I’m seeing more “banana spider” webs now. They are one of the most beautiful spiders to me. Their humongous webs make for interesting walks through the woods, though!

I feel this way about crickets & grasshoppers! *shivers* 😂 I can take the biggest spider outside with no issue, but a tiny field cricket comes in the house & I’m hollering for hubby’s assistance 🤣 they’re seemingly so erratic with their jumping. Amazing creatures but ones I prefer keep their distance.

I will handle a cricket or grasshopper crisis on my own (but I won't like it), but I will not deal with a lizard! I call the husband for those!

We’d make perfect roommates! 😂 You can handle the crickets & grasshoppers, I’ll handle the lizards!

I agree with you on lizards. Get one in the house and they are almost impossible to find and get rid of. I have managed only twice to trap them in a plastic container, to which I was able to throw them out into the lawn. All other times, they were sprayed with Windex and other bug spray to try to confuse them before the aforementioned shoe came out and got them. One snuck in through the front door once, hiding under the screen door. It went into the large coat closet with sweepers and large boxes. I had take everything out before I found it and got it. They are not fun.

I have definitely been known to trap a lizard under a plastic container until my husband is home. I don't know if I could off one, though. Too...squishy! The worst ones are those transparent house geckos. I don't remember having those around when we were kids, but they are prolific now--especially under the carport at night. They freak. me. out.

As a fellow spider-adorer, I love this! Jumping spider DO have such soulful eyes! We are not eager to remove them either- and have very few issues with other bugs inside. If they do need to be relocated (or saved from the too-interested kitty lol), we gently take them outside (with a shot glass & postcard). Spiders are a beautiful, intricate, beautiful part of Creation, and they reflect the beauty of our Creator. Perhaps even the poisonous ones (though they require more care & caution).

I hate to say this since you like spiders but I eliminate them. A smash of the shoe usually takes care of them. They may be good for getting rid of pests but they are a pest to me. I have these little spiders (about 1/10 the size of a penny) that come out from all over the place in my condo under the baseboards near the floor. It's a real problem.

Oh dear me. Matthew, I am so sorry to hear that. Depending on where you live, that could be prudent (black widows? no thanks) or just really really sad for the harmless spiders. Take care, and blessed be.
