I store up summer flavor in the form of frozen berries - there's nothing like a burst of blueberry baked into a pie in the middle of winter!

It sounds like you live is a lovely place ❤️ I miss the rural life sometimes. I remember the pantry full of pickles, lol.

What comes to my mind for me personally is less of the natural seasons and more of seasons of mental/emotional capacity. Autumn is an extra full season at work for me, every year. It's an annual thing of which I have no control over the dates (I wish I did, because autumn is my favorite and I wish I could enjoy it a bit more), but every year ... as October 1st gets closer and closer I feel that panic. I know that soon my time will be limited, my brain capacity dwindled with extra phone calls and work, so I feel the need to prepare and persevere my mental health as best as I can leading up to the busier season. Thankfully the weather does begin to cool down here in the hot and humid Midwest, which means I can enjoy more time in nature which preserves my mental health.

This is so lovely! I had dreams of living like this at one point, and we moved to a village that was 15 minutes from the city, and it was lovely and the people were lovely but it wasn’t for us.

Now we live closer to the city than we ever have 😂😂

I’ve never felt this deep sense of “winter is coming” as deeply as the year we lived in (very) rural Wyoming - 55 miles from the closest grocery store. We couldn’t grow a garden where we were (ranch provided housing had limitations), but I had a deep need to nest/prepare/stock up. I have also never checked the weather forecast as much as when we lived there because it so deeply impacted what we could do in a day or week (even which days I could actually get to town).

Here I’m just trying to figure out how best to use what I brought in from my garden 😅

I no longer feel I need to store anything; the dark and cold season has got its blessings, too. I’m fine with every weather now. Beautiful piece, thank you!

Living where I live in Middle Georgia, the seasons don’t change quite as abruptly as they did a hundred or so miles north in Atlanta. I assume it’s because I’m a tiny bit closer to the equator. The rain can become very problematic, though in the lowlands and with so many rivers and creeks around. So far, I haven’t had to deal with any problems but the area floods whenever there’s more than a few days of rain. Hopefully, I’m on high enough ground. 😎🐺
